I'm sure that's what some of you were probably thinking...... it's been so long since I posted anything. Well, the answer is....YES, as a matter of fact, I did leave the country! We just got back from a trip to Egypt and Jordan (you can see lots of pictures here, if you haven't already). I'm still playing catch-up with my housework, but I thought I better take a quick break to post here.
Keeping to a strict diet is really, really hard when you're traveling! Especially when you're traveling through foreign countries and when you're in a tour group that pre-orders all your food. A lot of the meals were a buffet which did help. I stuck as close as I could to my diet, but I did have to eat some white bread, which was the lesser of all evils available ;) Then, one night, we were on a dinner cruise on the Nile River and we were served a fixed menu. The main meal was okay, but at the end.... there it was..... placed right in front of me...... ice cream cake! I'll save you the melodrama of what went through my mind and just say it ---- I caved! It was vacation, right? Let me tell you, it was not worth it! I did not feel satisfied; just guilty. And for the next two days I craved more sugar. I've since gotten back to normal and I'm doing well. But I will remember my ice cream cake the next time I'm faced with such a temptation, and know that it's just not worth it.
My weight has stayed the same, so I have no complaints there. Our weather has started becoming slightly warmer lately, and I'm hoping to get outside more for a change in exercise. I have such small windows of opportunity during the year for being outside. Winter is usually too cold, so that's out. Summer is way too hot. I have anhidrosis (I can't sweat), so I get overheated easily and have to be really careful in the sun. So my next "window" is opening soon, and I hope to take full advantage of it.
By the way, I'm sorry that I haven't been around to comment on everyone's blog. When I got back I had over 60 posts to read on my GoogleReader and I had to quickly skim them all. Congratulations to all of you for your weight loss or steady hold...... it sounds like you're all doing great! Have a blessed week!
