Well, it seems that my posting has been about as regular as my exercising! Sometimes it feels like I have nothing worth mentioning; other times it's just lack of opportunity. I'll try to post more often.
I was reading something yesterday that I thought was really appropriate for this decision to "glorify God in your (my) body". It was found in Book 1 of the Titus 2 Series by Debi Pryde called "Secrets of a Happy Heart". I'd like to quote a little bit, if you don't mind. She is speaking here about how to obtain genuine happiness, "To experience genuine change for the better, our entire purpose for living must yield to God's (purpose) until our delight is to live to please God rather than to please ourselves. As our minds change and we conform our thinking to God's way of thinking, our attitudes and entire life begin to reflect a wonderful transformation."
I want what she describes here. I want to live to please God and not myself. But as she says, our entire purpose for living must yield to God. That includes what and why I eat, and also (my toes are gonna get stepped on here) how I take care of my body through exercise. Too often I live to please myself and my lazy habits. But, I am determined to undergo this "wonderful transformation" of my life by daily yielding myself to God until my delight is to please God. I'm sure I'll fail along the way, but I know that if I continue, my desires will change.
I was hoping to post a recipe this time for whole wheat bagels. My friend Jenny sparked this idea! I found a bagel recipe, and adapted it for whole wheat and no sugar. I took pictures of every step and was all ready to post them along with a great recipe....but.....they didn't taste that great. There was too much salt, and I don't think I let them rise long enough. But, overall they weren't a total waste. My kids like them with jelly (to cut the saltiness), and they do have the right texture for a bagel. I'll try them again soon, and hopefully this time I will have a good recipe for you!
*Update*
After making the time to write this post, I thought it was only right to make the time to exercise. So, I'm happy to report that I just finished Leslie Sansone's 4 mile Fat Burning walk from her old WalkAerobics series. It has jogging as well as walking, so it's nice for getting your heart rate up. I feel SO MUCH better!!
