Exercise Is Not Stored!!

I don't know why I'm finding a hard time keeping up with this blog. Maybe I'll just stick to once a week check-ins. I think I can manage that.
My weight has stayed about the same. There's always a little fluctuation throughout the month with water weight gain and the like. It feels like my scales take 3 steps down, and then 2 steps back up. If you know your math, than you'll see that, that still makes for a loss. I try not to get discouraged when I see the 2 steps up; knowing that they'll come back down eventually.
I've done decently with my eating; with the exception of a trip to McDonald's last week.... which is always a celebration here. It's SO expensive; a happy meal is $7!!!
I've determined to do better about exercising as well. So far, so good. The trick is to keep it up. I like something Leslie Sansone said in one of her videos, "Exercise is not stored." I have to remind myself of that often. Just because I used to be very diligent with exercising (6 days a week at an hour a time), doesn't do me any good right now.
I've also taken up a new practice while exercising that I plan on sticking with. I've done all of my videos so many times that I don't need the vocal prompts; so I mute the sound and pray while I'm exercising. It makes the work-out go by really quickly, and extra prayer time never hurt anyone!
Okay, a recipe! This one is for "Apple Carrots". I found this in the book The Sugar Addict's Total Recovery Program by Kathleen DesMaisons. I'm not sure about WW points, since I don't follow that program.... but I know they're yummy!
Apple Carrots
8 carrots
Olive oil for sauteing.
1/2 Cup apple juice
1/2 Cup water

Peel and slice carrots. Saute in olive oil until browned. Add apple juice and water. Bring to a simmer and cook until soft and liquid is evaporated.

Have a great week!!!

Hey Pam,
You know as long as your going down, it doesn't matter how it comes off. Keep it up, your doing something right!!

I don't know if I could pray while excercizing, I'm not a multitasker so it's difficult for me to do any two things at the same time. :0)

$7 for a happy meal??? Goodness, I think I'll pass. Here in Croatia I think we pay about $5 for a happy meal, but we only get one every once in a while, I'm so thankful we don't have a Mc. Donalds in our town.

The recipe looks yummy, thanks!!

Unfortunately, on Wednesday nights happy meals are half price at about $1.50 here in my little Michigan town. I think Mickey Dee's is where I packed it all on my keister to begin with, so if I do fast food I have to make it Subway.

I use to memorize the Word or pray while I was on the treadmill. That works for me but I'm not sure I'm coordinated enough to do that during aerobics or weight-lifting. Walking and chewing gum is way over my coordination capacity.

I made the Whole Wheat bread twice this week. The first time it was a bit of a doorstop in texture. I buy my yeast in a bulk bag and I think it was just old. I purchased a new bag and the stuff I made on Thursday was fantastic. I took half of the dough, divided it in 12 pieces and made wonderful rolls. My 19-yr-old son snarfed most of them. He LOVED them. I think I will make rolls out of it from now on. Everyone seems to like it more that way and it rises a little better.

I'm glad you're doing well. Remember, you aren't really overweight so you can't expect to lose great amounts.

I'm having trouble keeping up with my blog as well, but I'm still doing well with the weight and all.

Just bought my rotary cutter and mat yesterday. I have all the fabric. Cutting and piecing starts tonight. I think there will be a few very late nights in order to finish Quilt #1 by son#3's birthday in two weeks, but I'm still trying. Even if I can get it all pieced....I can quilt it after I give it to him. I can't wait to show you a picture! He's a musician and the border is going to be a keyboard. I LOVE it!

Sorry to be so lengthy on my comment!

I tried walking but so far that is not working out for my hip. I have been advised to check into Curves for ladies. I am not sure but I thought I might check. Hope you are doing very good and thanks for the recipe. connie fromTexas

I listen to my mp3 player while I walk. I have mostly gospel music on it (with the exception of a little classical in the form of movie soundtracks), and with them right in my ears, I really listen to the words - a great blessing! I also like to listen closely for the different instruments and how the songs are arranged - the pianist coming out in me.

I've tried reading while I exercise, but I bounce too much! I haven't tried praying, but I don't think I'd be able to keep that up and pay attention to what I was doing. I'd get scooped right off the treadmill! LOL

I'm going to try the carrots. I'm always looking for new ways to fix veggies, since I have to eat so many of them.

Don't feel bad about your not posting much. I am only posting once a week on my weight-loss blog. I am finding it hard to post any more than that.

Keep up the good work!! You are a blessing to me!
