Welcome to my new blog. My purpose for starting this blog was for several reasons. One, I would like to share some tips that I have learned about general health, diet, weight loss, and exercise. And two, so that I can hold myself accountable for my own actions. I am just an average person; not a nurse or dietitian. Most of my knowledge comes from the Bible, other books, experience, and common sense. I hope that God uses these writings to be a blessing to you; and maybe we can even help encourage each other.
I might as well get this first post started with some light from the Bible. One of my favorite verses for my diet (way of eating) is I Cor 6:12, "All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any." I had this verse up on my refrigerator for years! It was there as a constant reminder to me that, just because you can eat it, doesn't mean it's best for you (expedient). Now, did I (and do I) always heed this verse? Unfortunately, no; but with God's grace I try. I especially like the second half of this verse, "...I will not be brought under the power of any." If I choose to eat something that I know I shouldn't, then I am letting it control me; I am under it's power. A Christian is never to be controlled by, or addicted to, any desire. For if you live for your desires, you will be destroyed by them. (I Cor 6:13a) This verse is something that I would like to be able to say with confidence someday. "I will not be brought under the power of any." For now, it's more like, "I don't want to be brought under the power.....Lord please help me!" This is my daily prayer.

Wow...Pam...that is such a great verse about food.....EXCELLANT.....see...I learned something already......
I need to read and re-read it and ask the Lord to help me to be a doer of HIS WORD....not a hearer only.....never really looked at this verse like that.
Deby
I just downed two scoops of vanilla bean ice cream with almonds, banana and cool whip.
It was goooooooood.
And I'm glad I ate it before I saw your new blog. ;)
I'm looking forward to what you have to say, Pam.
Excellent verse and application! It strikes a chord with me. I struggle literally every day with eating the right things, but way too many times I'm brought under the power of food.
